Torrecid once again sponsored the Alcora International Open “Ciudad de la Cerámica,” which celebrated its 26th edition, solidifying its position as one of the oldest and largest taekwondo events in Spain. The event brought together more than 1,000 athletes for an intense day of competition, transforming the Polifunctional Sports Center into a grand stage for the sport.
The tournament featured the participation of numerous clubs from across the country, as well as international delegations, further enhancing its international profile. Among them was the Panamanian national team, which chose Alcora as part of its preparation for the 2026 South American Youth Games. Teams from Cuba, France, Morocco, and England also participated, reinforcing the international character of the Open.
The competition once again stood out for its high level of competition, broad participation, and increasingly robust organization, reaffirming its status as one of the major national and international taekwondo events. Throughout the day, Alcora became a meeting point where both grassroots and elite athletes came together.
One of the most moving moments of the event was the tribute to Olympic champion Joel González Bonilla, winner of the gold medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games and bronze in Rio 2016, whose career serves as an inspiration to new generations. Carmen Bullón Blasco was also recognized as an example of overcoming adversity after battling Wolfram syndrome and successfully returning to taekwondo.
Torrecid is proud to support an event of this magnitude, which highlights the effort, perseverance, progress, and resilience of athletes throughout their careers.
